Read more DownloadIn last October, in IGE meeting of UNCTAD, “Enforcement of Competition Law in Food Retails Sector” was adopted as one of agenda, then not just panelist but also many participants from floor raised many questions or problems to be further discussed especially regarding abuse of superior bargaining power against small and medium enterprises (SMEs). On the other hand, Japan Fair Trade Commission, JFTC, has developed regulations on abuse of superior bargaining power and accumulated enforcement experiences for many decades. And, based on these experiences, in ICN Kyoto Annual Conference in 2008, JFTC moderated panel discussion on this regulation which draw very much attention from many jurisdictions. Now, many competition agencies have recently become much more aggressive in this regulation than ever. Thus, this event will be an ideal place to follow up last year IGE meeting and also ICN Kyoto 2008.
